In all sports, especially rodeo, repetition is the key to success. Have you ever heard “Perfect practice makes perfect?” Obviously there is no substitution for roping a live steer or calf, or tying a live goat, but that option is not always available. There are a few new goat dummies out now that let you practice your flank and tie no matter what the weather is like outside. These dummies are lightweight and easy to pack up and take with you to the rodeos for a little extra tune-up before you compete. First, we have the Ty Tuff Goat Tying Dummy by Ty Tuff. There are two sizes in this style. We have a full-sized, then a Jr sized. The larger of the two stands at 22” tall, 20” long and weighs around 7-8 lbs. This one would be for older goat tiers needing the taller goat dummy. The Ty Tuff Jr stands 18” tall is 17” long, and weighs around 6-7 lbs. The Jr size would be for the younger competitors. The body of the Ty Tuff Goats is wood, but the legs are made out of very durable and flexible material. Our next dummy is the Tuf Goat by SS Roping. It is designed with a head and neck so that you can stake it out and it will stand by itself so that you can practice running at the goat. It stands 22” tall and around 28” long from nose to tail. This dummy weighs 16 lbs. The Tuf Goat is made out of the same material as the Tuf Kaf, which is rubberized foam for extra durability. They designed this model with a grip to help with your flank.
