We take pride in West Texas A&M! They are a local university located in Canyon, TX, several of our employees attend school there, and it is an all-around outstanding university. This past week, WTAMU had huge success at the 2015 All-American Quarter Horse Congress!
"West Texas A&M University’s horse judging team placed first in all categories—halter, performance and reasons—to take the overall championship at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress Oct. 14 in Columbus, Ohio. The WTAMU team garnered a total of 3,055 points for the first-place berth and 3,016 points for third place, making it the only university to put two teams in the top 10. It marks the 102nd and 103rd national or world champion or reserve champion team or individual award for the WTAMU team. Second place went to Mississippi State University with 3,018 point, Oklahoma State University placed fourth, and Texas A&M University took fifth place.
Bailey Forester, a junior pre-veterinary major from Gallatin, Tenn., won the overall individual title at the event by placing third in performance and reasons and fourth in halter. Five teammates joined Forester in the top 10: Sydney Reynolds, a junior equine industry and business major from Pullman, Wash., placed second overall with a second in performance and reasons, and tenth in halter; Breanna Grebin, a junior equine industry and business major from Rochester, Minn., third overall with a fifth in performance and 6th in halter; Jori Wendt, a junior equine industry and business major from Foley, Minn., fifth overall with a first in performance; Kendra Smith, a junior equine industry and business major from Johnson City, eighth overall with a fifth in halter and seventh in reasons; and Rachel Riddle, a junior equine industry and business major from Stanford, Ill., 10thoverall with a first in halter and reasons. In all, 94 individuals competed at the event.
“This is a fantastic win,” Dr. John Pipkin, director of the equine industry program and coach of the horse judging team, said. “The team has been working diligently to be prepared, and I'm very proud of every one of them. They represented WT very well.”
The WTAMU horse judging team will compete in November at the AQHA World Championship in Oklahoma City and at the NRHA Futurity Championship in Oklahoma City in December."
A huge congratulations to the WTAMU Horse Judging Team on all of your winnings. Coolhorse is proud of you!
