Winter Horse Blanket Static Help

Static can be a real shocker for horses when using winter blankets in a dry climate. Some horses are sensitive to the shock or even to the sound of static zaps, while others don't seem to mind at all. If you have a sensitive horse, you might wonder what you can do to help it be more comfortable while removing blankets. The answer is to condition the horse's coat thoroughly with a high quality moisturizer before blanketing him or her. I like to use the Healthy HairCare Moisturizer for this. It is an economical concentrate that you mix as needed. With added lanolin, it does a great job of keeping hair from getting dried out, and dry hair is what makes the static get shockingly bad!
There are many other benefits to using this product in the winter months. I really like the versatility of this product, you can use it for manes and tails as well as for coats. Using one product saves time (and frozen fingers). The lanolin and oils used to make the product will neither build up nor cause dirt and dust to stick. During the winter when baths and tail washings are few and far between, that can be a huge plus. You can even use it every day without overdoing it. Dandruff and dry skin can be improved with regular use, and it is great for the scaly dry skin that can show up along the roots of the mane and base of the tail. Horses don't have to be clean or even dry before you use it, just spray it on and brush it in.
