CoolHorse at the 2013 Spicer Gripp Memorial Roping

What comes to mind when someone says, "it's the first weekend in August." When I hear that, it always rings a bell in my mind... The Spicer Gripp Memorial Roping in Hereford, Texas. The first weekend in August, every year, same time, same place! Growing up in Hereford, this event hits a little closer to home! I knew Spicer Gripp personally, he was a mentor to so many young adults and he continues to look down from the big blue sky (chew in his mouth)! It is an honor to help celebrate this great man’s life each year, and I know Spicer would be so proud of what this has become. This was the first year for CoolHorse to be a part of this great event. CoolHorse sponsored the All-Girl Team Roping, man was that fun. These ladies really know how to do it! Congrats to Beverly Robbins and Ashley Mills for taking home the buckles, the big checks and the bragging rights for 2013! The Open Team Roping winners also hold a special place in the hearts of all of us here at CoolHorse. Aaron Macy, 18 of Post, Texas and Wesley Thorp, 17 of Throckmorton, Texas. These two young guns represented Team CoolHorse in Shawnee at the IFYR 2013 Finals this year! WOW! What an accomplishment to these guys, they went up against some of the best team ropers in the world and stuck it out to win the big money, $17,550.00 a man! That is a lot of dough for these young guns! We are beyond excited for what the future holds for these guys. CoolHorse wants to congratulate Aaron and Wesley on their great roping! Open Calf Roping Winner - Tuff Cooper Senior Steer Roping Winner - Gib Bell Open Steer Roping Winner - Vin Fisher Pro-Am Winners - Head Side Landon Koehn he roped with Buddy Hawkins and the Heel side winner was Denton Jones, he roped with Jake Barnes Congrats to all of the winner at this years Spicer Gripp Memorial.
