Winter tips for humid climates

A special thanks to a Coolhorse friend for pointing out that our dry climate practices for leather care are not always the best answer!  In a response to our Winter Rituals post, Cynthia of C bar D Horses shared some wonderful ideas and is allowing us to pass them on to you.  Read more for Cynthia's humidity-friendly reccommendations as well as some more great winter tips!

"I do pretty much the same thing with my blankets, I used a permanent marker and wrote their names and the size under the tail flap, and on the white tags if they have them.  They are all hanging in my feed room wall so I can easily grab them.

"I ,also, haul all my tack into the sun room to clean for next spring.  I came from a western dry climate to a very humid climate here in Wisconsin.  Taking care of leather takes on a whole new meaning.  I discovered that doing it the dry climate way, like you described, causes the leather to grow mold and mildew.  So, I've been experimenting with other ways of doing business with my leather tack.  The Leather Therapy seems to be doing the job.  It cleans out the mold that has already started as well.

"Also, I sweet talk the man of the house to take his bobcat and scoop away all manure build up in the horse pens so that even if they are standing in mud, they aren't standing in manure and mud.

"Thanks for being such a great company.  I love the Nettles stirrups I purchased from you."
