These are by far the best turnout blankets that I have ever purchased. I am ordering two more right now for my other 2 horses after last night's rain storm. My horses got caught out in the pasture in it and even though these (Coolhorse winter) blankets were soaked, my horse stayed dry all through the night. You can tell the quality in this blanket is much better than the competitions. I will refer everyone I know looking for a turnout blanket to Coolhorse!! Thanks for a Great Product!! Corey S. Love this blanket, I received it yesterday and am so tickled with it. it’s a great fit and what a great idea to put Velcro at the front…I believe I’ll be a return customer on this blanket!! And what a great buy on it with the weekly special…the color is even better than the picture on the website…it looks lighter but love the color! Vickie P. Guymon, OK |

Winter is fast approaching. Today it's speed appears to be 28 straight line or gusting 42. Yuck. It's a good day to be in the barn, and there are two in-the-barn projects that I like to do before it gets too cold. Read more to learn about getting your winter blankets and leather tack ready for winter's harsh conditions. |

Winter blankets can be quite confusing. There are terms and numbers used to describe them that you may not hear anywhere else. We'll break it down and make it simple. Coolhorse carries two main types of winter blankets. Turnout blankets and stable blankets. A turnout blanket is designed so that you will be able to use it on a horse that spends time outdoors. Better turnout blankets will have extra features such as gussets at the shoulders and elastic leg straps to allow for movement without rubbing. They are often water resistant and many have tail gates to keep the blanket centered if your horse rolls or plays hard. |

A vet once told me that a horse's ideal outside temperature would be around 50 degrees, so I try to remember that the horses want to be a little colder than I do. The temperatures it is suited for depends on a few factors. Are your horses stalled or turned out? And are they kept clipped or show slick, or do you allow them to grow a little extra hair? |
