There is an art to getting a perfect fit on your horse's winter blanket. To make things easier for you, we've done two things.
First, we have chosen a blanket style that is very forgiving. With the adjustable front, elastic leg straps, double belly straps, shoulder gussets, and tail gate, our blankets are designed to fit great on many different types of horses. With so many places to adjust, you can get a custom fit for each horse. You can even change the blanket up to fit as your horse grows, gains or loses weight, or even if he just changes his muscle tone. Second, we have come up with a blanket fitting guide to help you choose a blanket if it's not convenient to measure your horse. Keep in mind, this guide really only applies to our own little world of horses. The type of horses that you would find at a rodeo or reining or Quarter horse show. Warmbloods, Arabians, and other types of horses may not fit into our guidelines. To help you understand our blanket fitting guide a little, here's the info on a couple of my own horses for examples. Remy is a two year old, almost 3. He is a reiner, a grandson of Topsail Whiz, so he's pretty short, only around 14.1. But I would say he's got an average to slightly heavy muscle type. Remy measures, and fits perfectly in, our 72-74 Coolhorse blanket. Roses is a 6 year old appendix QH mare. She has the build you would expect from a half thouroughbred, long, tall and lanky! She's 15.3, but narrow. She's in pretty good condition right now, not carrying a lot of fat. Roses fits in the 76-78 blanket. |
