Bits are my favorite tack items, so it was hard for me to narrow this down to a few categories, but this is what I came up with...Short shank, Long shank, Hackamore, and Draw Gag.

The Short Shank best seller, chosen by Coolhorse customers nationwide, was a surprise to me.  I knew we had been selling this little bit, but I didn't realize how often.  Made by Metalab, the short shank bit has a black satin finish and a circle gag cheek.  The 5 1/2" cheeks have floral details.  Smooth snaffle mouth with a dog bone center is 5 1/8" wide.

Ricky Green worked with Classic Equine to design our Best Long Shank winner.  This bit has a unique mouthpiece attachment that rolls back when engaged, slowing contact and allowing your horse more time to collect and respond to the added pressure.  This helps develop the horse's proper head set and teaches him to carry the bit correctly.  In roping or other high speed situations, this builds consistency by helping your horse rate smoothly.

Best of Coolhorse Bits, Hackamore Category was a close race.  The winner, Gary Gist designed Clover Hackamore, by Classic Equine.  The attractive shanks are made with browned iron and trimmed in hand engraved German Silver.  A steel noseband is covered with leather, and the stainless steel curb chain is included.  The runner up was so close that I have to mention it here as well.  Also by Classic Equine, the Bozo Sidepull is a replica of the headgear that Kristie Peterson used on her horse, Bozo.

Draw gags have gained in popularity over the last few years, and one stands out from the rest.  Best of Coolhorse, Draw Gag category goes to the Weaver Leather Twisted Wire Draw Gag.  Comes complete with the nylon rope headstall for smooth draw action.  This set up is great for teaching flex, bend, and head set.
