Today I received an email from a gentleman wanting to know why his Double SS & Viper calf ropes had such a mixed performance. He had gotten quite confused as to what kind of rope to try and wanted to educate himself on the variety. Let's start with the basics...
3 strand (such as the Double SS)- They are more recommended for beginning ropers because they have larger crowns and are more forgiving. They larger crowns make it easier to feel the tip of your rope. 4 strand- They are more durable and are more tolerant of all types of weather. Since the crowns are smaller, you will get a more snappy feel. 5 strand- As of right now, there is only one on the market but we'll get back to that when we discuss Rattler Calf ropes! |
