"I think I'm roping probably better than I ever have," said Smith, 37. "I'm in better condition physically than I have been in the last six or seven years. I'm probably in the best shape of my life. Then you can put your experience mixed in with that. I haven't slowed down any. I've gotten stronger and I've gotten faster."
Some of the credit for his strong 2008 season should go to his new horse, Destiny. She is the namesake for his new four strand poly calf rope, Destiny, by Cactus Ropes.
The Destiny calf rope is 100% texturized poly. It is one of the two new 4 strand calf ropes being released by Cactus Ropes on December 1st. The development was to focus on smaller crowns to give a faster feel without losing the durability. The Destiny has virtually no stretch and maintains its body and lay run after run.
