Classic Ropes: 3 vs 4 Strand

Matt Smith, from Classic Ropes, tells us the difference between a 3 strand team rope and 4 strand team rope.

3 strand ropes have larger crowns than a 4 strand.  The larger crowns provide a "courser" feel in the ropers hands.
3 strand ropes allows the roper to feel more tip weight, which helps guide the rope to the target.
4 strand ropes have a smoother and faster feel.  This makes it easier to swing and feed, or make your loop bigger.  It also allows the loop to close around the horns or get tight around the feet with less resistance.
4 strand ropes provide more body and forgiveness than a 3 strand.  This increases the ropers catching percentage.
We are packing more raw material into a 4 strand rope but keeping it the same size, if not smaller, than a 3 strand.
All Classic/Rattler 4 strands are designed with Coretech technology.  The core, that runs through the center of the 4 strands,  provides stability and consistency in the rope.  In saying this, your ropes will last longer and hold up better in all weather conditions.
